Roma Cucina Restaurant
9-11 High St, Fremantle
This project began with the inheritance of a family restaurant from father to Daughter which has been in the family since the early 1960’s. Terry and Lucy Dunn first came to me through a work colleague with a smile and a new business venture. The project began as a partial design renovation but quickly gathered momentum, as old Fremantle buildings do, into a full gut renovation which presented many challenges both in the commercial kitchen area and the main seating areas. Both Lucy and Terry were very involved in the project and communication was exceptional during the design and construction of the project. The restaurant is now an extremely beautiful building with a new life. While the renovation included many new products and materials I feel the restaurant still retains the original beauty and character.
I have visited the restaurant on many occasions since it has opened and Lucy and Terry, now the head chef, seem to be thoroughly enjoying their new business venture. It has always been busy and the food is sensational. I have been involved in many old building renovations particularly through my time spent in NYC and I always feel a sense of purpose or worth when I enter one which I have transformed and given a new life. I wish Terry and Lucy all the best in the future and I’m sure they will do exceedingly well.
