This was a joint venture with Insulation Systems PTY LTD. When I first saw the drawings for this building I was to say the least, excited. The building itself, a three storey residence with, three bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, open plan living area and a separate ground floor independent living quarters lends itself to modern sleek design, maximum use of every inch of habitable space, alternative floor plan layout and most importantly super-efficient sustainable construction based on Passive Haus principles
Pat and Denise Byrne both originally from Ireland are incredible people with realistic opinions on construction in WA. The building itself presented many challenges just in logistics alone, not to mention budgeting, scheduling and quality control. The site being extremely tight and a rear block with a long narrow driveway presented never ending challenges logistically for us. This build was designed to be primarily modular walls, floor and roof cassettes and this proved difficult for transport and crane placement for installation. The building was also designed to have the external cladding installed off site to eliminate the need for scaffolding.
The building while pushing the boundaries of construction and logistics is now a beautiful piece of modern construction which works magnificently as a highly functional building both for comfort and sustainability Pat and Denise are both extremely content and comfortable in their new home and will be for many years to come.
